Hi all,

I thought I'd check this company out on the web as they seemed to offer a good service, but I didn't have the URL. So I searched on the name and found this as the 3rd hit:

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/online/vistaprint.html

I'm absolutely stunned. Obviously this relates mostly to the Stateside organization (.com) but I'd advise anyone who's done business with this crew to check their credit card statements. The fact I saw at least one UK-based entry on the list of complaints prompted me to post this, as I know most of us are in the U of K.

I really hope nobody has been affected by this, and I'm thinking I'll just print my own cards again in future if this is the kind of scum we can expect to find ourselves being ripped off by.

Further to above,

If anyone has been conned by vitaprint I would suggest reading this -

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/sho ... l?t=202892

It's only if you signed up to the rewards scheme you get billed it seems.

keep a look out on ya statements though, just in case.

Cheers

Thanks for the clarification.

It's still not acceptable business practice though!

i was fleeced!!

i am totally disgusted with vistaprint and will never ever ever use them again...and more importantly...i would recommend that no-one touches them with a bargepole!!

they took £9.95 our of my account every month for 6 months. making me overdrawn and as a result, i had bank charges.

i was livid cos i had cancelled...OR SO I THOUGHT...my account with them.

after a very well worded letter and threatening, i also insisted they pay my bank charges too!!

i had to get proof/photocopies from the bank and to cut a long story short, they paid me back in full, with a gushing letter!!

i made NUMEROUS phone calls to various people at vistaprint who couldn't speak the Queen's English, and in the end, I was told that i'd have to write to this guy in the UK to get your money back.

i'll see if i can find his address details in case anyone else needs it!!

edit...here we are...
anyone who's having trouble with vistaprint/vprewards, this is the man you need to get in touch with.
good luck.

Really really sorry to hear of your experiences - but I'm glad you got it sorted in the end. Looks like you did quite well considering some of the jaw-dropping experiences our American cousins describe - I can't believe how such a company can still be allowed to operate, and hasn't been sued out of existence or closed down by law.

We can only hope that this helps prevent others from falling into the same trap in future. Maybe someone should try reporting them to trading standards or TV's 'Watchdog', because I'm sure there's a legal case to answer there.

And as I work in Customer Service myself, this kind of crap really p*sses me off!!

i too was recommended to them!! joke eh!??!!

i went to my my bank and cancelled any more monies going out to VP...this was my first priority but i don't know what happened cos it still went out. i've been with my bank since i was 18 (now 48!! lol) and was cross with them too, but they apologise perfusely at their oversight.

so the moral of the story is...keep checking the banks too!!

i now have my cards done with GOODPRINT.CO.UK who are superb and extremely good value. the quality is outstanding.
now i WOULD recommend THEM!! lol

I also know of two artists who can trace credit card fraud directly to vistaprint. I also know of some artists who are very happy with them but for me the downside wasn't worth the risk. Rebecca - you might not be able to cancel - the 7 day period doesn't apply to some personalized items - just make sure that there's no direct debit mandate in force at the banm.
I have online banking and its peace of mind to be able to check and alter things myself, when there's a problem like this.

I've recently had some cards from a recommended site ( another artist) Street cards
http://www.streetcards.com
excellent product, service and delivery :) I have printed my own but seeing these I won't do it again....

I had a bad experience with vista print too while using a business credit card. I certainly wouldn't ever buy from them again.
As Jeannie mentioned, Street Cards are wonderful, great quality and fast, safe service :D I would heartily recommend them.

Hi Becky,
I also ordered business cards from vistaprint on the same recommendation as you when I read your query about selling your work on the forum.
I have not received mine yet but I have been charged the right amount on my bank account so far *crosses fingers* :?
The website recommended seemed very good and the choice of card designs was excellent so I didn't feel the need to check out their credentials. I will know better in future though!

Chris.

I think alot of the problem was that though the intiail charge is correc t there's some sort of default box which signs you up or monthly payments for something. thats what happened to Lindi. quick online search seems to be its called passport to fun.
The credit card fraud stuff must have been down to dodgy employees but companies have a duty ( in my view) to try to make sure their staff are honest in their dealings with credit info, by minimizing the info staff can see.

I know a few members both here and on other forums have had trouble with vista print and VP rewards. I've just had an email from someone else so its obviously still continuing. there are two links here worth reading - the money savings expert one goes into 12 pages - though contains some from people who have successfully managed to opt out before being signed up. But it seems that when you go to checkout a pop up box comes asking you to "opt out" - well if you have a pop up blocker you won't get the box and will be signed in by default. There's some question of legality but as the VP Co is based in Bermuda it seems UK law doesn't apply . so as ever you need to beware - but I feel its a very shabby approach - as if you have pop up blockers - and lots of people do - I do - then you won't be aware of what you may have been signed in to without explicit consent. Both sites do give advice as to what to do to cancel - some ahve found it easy and some have had more problems.
