Morning all, I've posted my previous painting which I've just started to do some more work on, I've been on hols for 3 weeks so have missed the paint brush but brought back some beautiful photo's for inspiration. I hope to finish this one over the weekend but plenty to do on it yet.

I liked it at the earlier stage - I'm sure the posts had a much stronger colour then?

However, I'm not sure that I like the green. Are they rocks?

The initial composition with the horizontal feel of the water, contrasting against the strong verticals of the posts was quite striking. To me, and I admit that I know nothing, the green lumps are just a distraction from that good compositional structure.

I will follow futher progress with interest. Thanks for showing us.

Hi Azza,

Yep, looks interesting so far.

I think it'll come to life more once you have the post shadows in.

Not overly keen on the green areas either I'm afraid.

Keep us posted

Hi all, just about finished this one, photo isn't that clear but will attempt another one, go easy on me, only my second attempt at oils. I love using them but tend to get more paint on myself instead of the canvas.

Hi Azza.It is a a large Painting!
You have got the distance of the Horizon and water much better,I tend to agree the rocks make it a little too fussy, you are certainly grasping oils well though.I am glad you are enjoying using them and every single painting we do, we learn something new from them, that is what makes it so much fun to do. :)

Hi Wendy thanks for your kind comments. I've toned down the stones at the front and plan to add a bit more lighter blue to the bottom right. I think I will be sticking with oils for a while, just gonna have to be careful where I put the paint (furniture).
