My stats always show one of my paintings (Evening in the South of France) well up the listings. This was the first painting I sold and I seriously thinking about a new version of the same view and seeing what happens!

yes - why not? its never going to be quite the same and its always interesting if its some while since you painted the origina; to see how your style may have changed.
I sometimes repeat works but in a different media - just for my own satisfaction - and its amazing how it can change...

Hi , I get one of my prints, butterflies as the highest hit every week. it is because in google images it comes up on the first couple of pages. It gets around 200 hits, while the others get only 20 if i am lucky! Becky.

If you think you have a good image I would definitely go for another version. I've found there are certain scenes which go down well (it's not always the ones you expect either) and if I have something which either sells quickly or gets loads of hits I'll do similar ones in different sizes/formats/mediums. I always go back to the source photo or image each time though and each one will be a bit different - copying an old painting would definitely be a step too far for me!

On hits, I find paintings seem to "take turns" to be the most popular, it's the same on my MG site as well. Over the last month or so my most popular image on TAW by far is the Young Ballerina (actually my daughter!) which I posted here a few weeks ago - it does make you wonder if there's any connection between posting on a forum and loads of hits. No buyers yet though ..... :?

The title young Ballerina will bring out the hoards of people you really would not want to accociate with, another Artist had a painting called Pony Girl it used to get flooded with views.I have one called nubile it is always there somewhere at the top of the views but it sold a couple of years ago.

David it's lovely from what I can see on my blurry image cos I couldn't right click for original image. Made good Impression anyway! I think style and subject would be a pleasure to live with regardless of origin. It would be interesting to know average cost for similar quality painting in France. Many well-heeled folks have second homes in France so I'm also wondering if place is making a good connection too. I could be right off track here - just a thought.
