Looking for advice about how much commission a gallery should add on to my work if a customer has requested a bespoke piece. Normally if they sell a piece of mine on display in their gallery, they add on 100%. So wondering what happens if I am redesigning a piece to specific dimensions requested by a customer. Although the actual piece is never displayed in the gallery, the order has come from them seeing other pieces on display. What is the etiquette?

100% sounds a bit steep- I would have thought anywhere between 35 to 75 was more common. As for the commission- I dont really know but suspect in the interest of good relations, they should probably get their usual amount- please someone tell me Im wrong because I would love to be-

You could try to negociate a lower commission for this piece with the gallery,as the actual piece is not on their display,might be worth a try.
