I want to take some turps with me to Nepal - does anybody know if I can carry it on a plane if it is sealed and in my hold luggage???

Thanks,
Ilsa

I would check with your airline but turps is flammable isn't it? In which case I would have thought the answer was likely to be no. Anyway think about the damage it would cause to your luggage if the bottle broke or leaked, I wouldn't risk it even if it is permitted by the airline.

There aer problems taking any solvents on a plane in either hand or hold luggage.

I'm looking into water soluble oils as a solution (!) to the problem, as I really don't get on with watercolour. Perhaps there's some information out there in the forum...

I don't think the ban has been lifted from taking any liquid substances onto an Airline.

David, the point about solvents sounds right, that was my feeling too.

Wendy, the main problem with liquids on a plane is in your carry on luggage, that is very restrictive. You are allowed to carry liquids as long as they're in your hold luggage so it's OK for toiletries, sunscreen, etc but anything hazardous or flammable is (understandably) going to be a problem.

cheers
Elise
