Quite an early work in progress..

I'm giving oils a go at the moment and thought i would try something a little more ambitious this time.

Not sure about the lizard banner on the left as yet..i may alter that :)

Hi Roo. :) I'm not usually a fan of photo realistic work, it usually looks a bit stilted to me, but I'm really liking the horse, it looks so dynamic. Good stuff. :D I'm looking forward to seeing it progress. :)

Hehe hiya Chalky..nice to see you here :)

Not made my mind up yet..might leave it in and make it a little smaller and a little less conspicuous..or i might make it into a spear..lol..thanks.

durrr - a little more ambitious -
this is VERY ambitous for a 3rd go... but great work so far! the horse is excellent - really catches the eye. The lizard? - bit to conpsiciuos IMO - seems out of place. but thats only my opinion - feel free to disregard it :) everyone thinks differently.

fantastic peice already roo, I love Roman history, the Lizard head looks fine to me as it's part of their history, make the painting as real as possible.

Interesting subject you don't see a good old fashioned piece these days.
Who is it modeled on looks like a cross between di Nero and Tony Curtess. Excellente :)

Hi Roo
Great painting. I especially like the clothing both of the rider and the crowd. I can almost feel the texture.
I'd get rid of the lizard. No matter how authentic I think it adds an almost cartoon quality to a serious work.
No hard feelings I hope.
What is the size of the painting?
Lol

You obviously have a talent for painting - for your fourth go, paint something real and don't rely on photographs. Go on, you know you can do it!
