Hi everyone!
I just returned on Friday from our delayed honeymoon (we got married in April!) which was a tour of Italy! :D
I have now got lots of fabulous photos of romantic and inspirational places like Florence, Venice, Capri, Rome and Lake Maggiore in Switzerland! I finally got to see Michelangelo's David and he is truly awe-inspiring! Lots of other fabulous art and breathtaking views!
Obviously you will be able to check out my paintings as I churn 'em out! :D
I have almost finished my first one of Venice! (swoon!). We went on a gondola and our tour guide arranged for an accordian player and a singer to join us in our boat as it was our honeymoon! It was fabulous!

Ok, back to the canals for me then...

Hi Christine

Congratulations on your marriage. Your honeymoon sounded wonderful, very romantic. I'm so pleased that you took lots of photos for memories and of course for lots of wonderful up and coming paintings!

Isn't life one long honeymoon when you meet the right one. I was married last July 2006 to a wonderful man so I'm still on my honeymoon

I wish you all the very best

Linda

Hi Linda,
Thank you for your good wishes. Italy was indeed wonderful although my husband grumbled a lot about the heat and the trudging around!
Still it took me a very long time to find the right man and so a little grumbling is acceptable under the circumstances, he doesn't grumble much at home! :D

Kind regards,
Chris.

p.s. Love your work, I peek at your site quite often!

Hi Christine-
ooo Italy- my fav place! We took three weeks off to drive to Rome and back for our honeymoon back in 1995- feels like a long time ago now. My husband lost his wedding ring in Lake Maggiore- we'd only been married a week! Still together despite the 'sign from above'.

Have fun getting all those thoughts down on canvas

Jo

Hi Chris

Thank you so much for your positive comments on my paintings. Most are in the garage now as I'm getting fed up of seeing them  . I'm thinking of selling them off cheap to get rid of them any ideas - maybe boot sale or Ebay? Or maybe paint something new that'll sell!!! Not done any painting for a few weeks so need to get my act together and try out some new ideas.

I've been looking at your site and love The Lonesome Gondolier and Beach in Antigua - very nice. Other's are great too but those are my favourites.

All the best

Linda

congratulations on your wedding - and a honeymoon in Venice...sounds fabulous :) should have lots of materials there for paintings- I'll look out for them.
I'd love to travel - somehow families get in the way ( well in the way of the money end) - but they are grown now and maybe I'll be able to soon. I'd love to spend Jan to March abroad - miss the grot of winter but enjoy xmas here...One day :)

Linda - don't do ebay - there's so much on there its soul destroying unless you have an accepted client base already. Its costs you money to put them on and likes as not you won't get it back. well thats my experience anyway- though I've not tried for a couple of years...maybe its different but i doubt it - just look at the work that doesn't have any bids.
why not just use the works you really want to be rid of as a base for a new painting? Your prices are quite low too, I've tried that and I don't think it helps sales - well not for me- there are some people who sell at low prices but mostly I think people look and don't see a bargain - an original artwork at less than an ikea print - they just think its cheap and can't be worth it. I've just made a vow to myself that I'm increasing my prices to reflect the work i put in and the quality of my materials - if it sells thats great - if it doesn't I'm no worse off, because I'm not a huge seller and have sold less since I put prices down hoping to increase sales!
So try an increase in price - you might be pleasantly surprised. Remember its not just the time you spend painting but the preparation time , varnishing etc and time spent planning and thinking about a work too...and art isn't an hourly 9-5 job that can be switched on and off so that needs to be factored in too.

Hi Jo!
That was unlucky losing the wedding ring! :? Italy has got to be my fave place too however my husband is Scottish and used to the cold! :D
I found Lake Maggiore such a relaxing place and very inspiring for my art. I started a small canvas last night looking across it from our hotel, which was lakeside!
I expect I will finish it over the weekend and load it up by Monday.

Hi Jeannie,
Thank you for the congrats! I have to admit I never even went abroad until I was 39! I was married young and had my daughter at 19. Sadly I was divorced by 22 and was a single parent with no money to travel with my friends. Once Jo had grown up (my icon on this forum is a portrait of her btw) and I was working full time I found I had the freedom and resources to travel and started off with a cruise in the Med, which was my first glimpse of Rome and Florence!
It's nice to get away but, like you, I love Xmas at home with my family. I still fill my daughter a stocking and she is now 29! :D

Jeannie
Thank you for all the advice - very much appreciated :D maybe I'll hang on to them for a little while and see if trends change ( she says living in hope! ) or like you say maybe use them as a base for another painting. That's a good idea, hadn't thought of that although I had thought of painting over a few of them!!!

All the best

Linda
